CrashGuide publishes timely, permanent public records of California traffic collisions, built from the California Highway Patrol's live dispatch (CAD) data.

Why this site exists

CHP dispatch information is public, but it scrolls out of public view within hours and is never archived. People who were just in a crash — or whose family member was — are usually in no condition to take notes at the roadside. Days later, the basic facts (where exactly it happened, when it was reported, which agency responded) are hard to reconstruct. CrashGuide preserves the public dispatch record, in English and Spanish.

What this site is not

CrashGuide is not a government website and is not affiliated with the California Highway Patrol or any agency. The information here is preliminary dispatch data, not official collision reports, and no official reports are available on this site. Dispatch data contains no names, and no person is ever identified here.

Who runs this site

CrashGuide is owned and operated by ME Lawyers, APLC, a California personal injury law firm. We built this resource because every week we hear from people who couldn't find basic information about their own crash. Pages include an optional form to request help locating your collision report; anything you submit through those forms goes to the firm, exactly as described in the Attorney Advertising Disclosure shown on every form.

Accuracy

Dispatch information is preliminary, unverified, and frequently revised as an incident develops. Do not rely on this site for accuracy — see our accuracy notice for detail.
